INSPIRATION

There are moments in childhood when the world suddenly reveals a secret.

It was a sunny, crisp morning by the sea - the air sharp with salt, reeds rustling in the breeze. Then the discovery: rock pools. Small universes hidden between stone and tide, glistening with shells, time-smoothed rocks, and scuttling crabs. Wonder surged electric and endless. Treasures were gathered proudly and carefully stacked on sun-bleached driftwood.

Saltmersc opens with sea salt, bright and bracing, capturing the freshness of the morning air. Pretty Muguet drifts in like the clean green scent of reeds and coastal plants rustling nearby, while a gentle dosage of rose water adds a childlike softness like rosy-blushed cheeks.

Driftwood grounds the scent in sun-warmed salt and sand. Finally, white musk and amber, soft and glowing, feel like the embrace of an endless childhood summer.

This fragrance captures the wonder of first discovery - when the smallest details felt miraculous, and the world felt full of hidden magic.

Frequently asked questions

How do I care for my GATHER candle?

1. Before Lighting

  • Remove all outer packaging (labels, wraps) before first use.
  • Trim the wick to ~5 mm (¼″) before every lighting — this creates a steady flame, reduces soot, and prolongs life.
  • Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Select a spot away from drafts, vents or air currents — moving air causes uneven burns and soot.
  • Ensure there’s a clear space (≥10 cm / ~4″) between this and other candles or objects.

2. The First Burn

  • On the first burn, allow the candle to melt to the edges of the container — this prevents excessive “tunnelling” and ensures an even future burn.
  • Aim for 2–4 hours of continuous burn on this first use.

3. While Burning

  • Burn within sight at all times; never leave an unattended flame.
  • Do not move a candle once lit or while wax is liquid - hot wax can spill and cause burns.
  • Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Extended burns can overheat the vessel or destabilise the wick.
  • Keep the wax pool clean of debris (wick trimmings, match sticks, dust) - foreign debris may act as unintended wicks.

4. If You Notice Issues

  • Extinguish if the flame becomes too high, flickers excessively, or smokes - this indicates improper burn conditions or wick length.
  • If the wick moves off centre during burning, allow wax to cool then gently reposition it before relighting.

5. Extinguishing & Between Burns

  • Use a candle snuffer for a cleaner extinguish and to minimise smoke and smell.
  • Let candle cool completely before trimming the wick again and relocating.

6. When to Stop Using

  • Stop burning when ~10 mm (⅜″) of wax remains - continuing can overheat the base and glass.
  • Always allow wax and vessel to cool fully before touching or moving.

7. Storage & Handling Tips

  • Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight - heat and UV can fade colour and degrade fragrance.
What is the burn time of a GATHER candle?

You can enjoy your GATHER candle for an average burn time of 40 hours. This can be dependent on the first burn and where you position the candle (in direct sunlight, by a source of heat or draft can speed up the burning process)

Are your candles natural or synthetic?

GATHER candles are thoughtfully crafted using a blend of natural and synthetic fragrance oils. Like modern perfumery, combining both allows us to create scents with greater depth, balance, and character.

It’s helpful to remember that “natural” doesn’t automatically mean safer - some of nature’s most powerful toxins come from plants. Likewise, “synthetic” doesn’t automatically mean harmful. Many aroma molecules are carefully developed and rigorously tested to ensure they are safe for use in fragrance products.

Whether natural, synthetic, or a blend of both, we always recommend burning candles in a well-ventilated space for the best and safest experience.
